About Angela

Food writer, food consultant and former chef to the rich and famous, Angela Gray is one of the leading lights on the food scene.  Having spent some eight years globe trotting with her chef’s kit, she came home to settle in Cardiff, and to pursue a slightly different career in the media world.  A BSc (Hons) degree in Food and Consumer Science together with her extensive knowledge of food formed the basis of what has become an amazing culinary adventure.

Angela has presented two cookery series for BBC Wales namely, “Hot Stuff” and “More Hot Stuff”, which took the viewing audience on a whistle stop cooks’ tour of Wales.  A book followed named after the series, containing all the recipes and anecdotes from the programmes.   She has a regular radio series on BBC Wales entitled “My Life on A Plate”, grilling guests like Kim Howells, Lowri Turner, Stephen Bull and John Humphries about what their favourite menu would consist of.   Angela is also in much demand on the cookery demonstration circuit.  She also makes regular appearances on UK Food Live and has worked with many of the top names in the business like Paul Rankin, Brian Turner, Antonio Carluccio,Jean Christophe Novelli, Anthony Worral Thompson and Lesley Waters to name but a few.

Angela has written ’The Welsh Cheese Book’, a must for cheese lovers.  Currently she is working on a lifetime ambition - a book on healthy eating which has maximum taste.

In September 2004 she will launch her cookery school ’Taste In The City’ - she will share her studio kitchen with friends from the culinary world offering audiences an eclectic mix of flavours from around the world.

Angela is also busy lobbying a food education project ’Cook Start’, which not only nourishes body and soul, but demonstrates the importance of understanding food in both local and global terms.

As well as opening the cookery school and writting cookery books, she also runs ’Food In Focus’.  The company employs the expertise of individuals offering a range of specialised services to the food industry.  These include everything from food photography and styling, organising food events and cookery demonstrations, to recipe development and writing food articles and publications for various companies.
